MEPAP courses are offered by approved Instructors who complete rigorous training and undergo an intensive peer-review process. This process ensures the quality of professional education so students located anywhere are adequately prepared to take the NCCAP National Certification Exam.
I’m a certified therapeutic recreation specialist (CTRS) with more than 15 years of experience in the field of recreation and long-term care. I am a graduate of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia and also studied at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi.
In my early career I worked with children in after school programs, recreation programs and aquatics. Since moving to Texas in 2003, I have devoted my career to the residents of long-term care. I currently teach the MEPAP curriculum in Pflugerville, Texas as well as serving as a consultant in my off hours.
I have served as president of the regional activity professional’s association, CASACA (the Capital Area Social and Activity Coordinators Association, Inc) since 2006 and also served on the Texas Health Care Association’s Activity Professionals Board from 2006 to 2010.
I am a strong advocate for certification and the activity profession. I’ve provided numerous continuing education sessions throughout Texas. I am certified nationally as a recreation therapist through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification.
