MEPAP Classes for NCCAP Certification

Activity Directors work in long-term care settings such as nursing homes, assisted living centers, adult day care facilities and other places within the long-term care continuum. Their clientele varies in age to the very young to those advanced in years. They serve individuals of varying physical, social, and cognitive functioning, providing recreational opportunities individually or in groups; programming activities which are intended to improve the quality of life for the individual.

MEPAP Part I

This course is the first in a series of two classes in the MEPAP curriculum. MEPAP Part 1: Core Content 1-11 prepares students for the essential functions and duties of an Activity Professional: to design, deliver and evaluate activity services for older adults across the continuum of care. This class is required in order to become eligible for certification by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals (NCCAP).

Ninety hours of practicum fieldwork is required as part of the course and must be performed concurrently with coursework.

MEPAP Part 2

This course Is the second of two classes in the MEPAP curriculum. MEPAP Part 2: Core Content 12-20 prepares students to apply principles of management in their role as an Activity Professional: to provide service through leadership, advocacy, using principles of planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling. This class is required in order to become eligible for certification by the National CertificationCouncil for Activity Professionals (NCCAP).

Ninety hours of practicum fieldwork is required as part of the course and must be performed concurrently with coursework.
